ANGELUS APATRIDA : MainStage : vendredi 10h30

Previously promoted with the introductory slogan “the most promising and threatening Metal band from Spain!” when Century Media first launched the band internationally in the turn of 2009/2010, it indeed became a busy period for ANGELUS APATRIDA ever since the release of their previous album, “Clockwork”. Kicking off with a support slot for the Spanish Arch Enemy tour in December 2009, this ambitious and voracious Thrash Metal quartet made sure to stay busy and spread their musical message on the road, doing about 80 (!) shows in their native Spain as well as in Portugal (with appearances at all relevant festivals, including Sonisphere or En Vivo) and crowning activities by acting as national support for the recent Slayer / Megadeth tour there. Additionally, ANGELUS APATRIDA also toured Europe twice: First together with Skeletonwitch and Warbringer (as part of the “Bangover Fest”) as well as later on with Dying Fetus, Keep Of Kalessin, Carnifex and Fleshgod Apocalypse (as part of the “Bonecrusher Fest”), which both helped showcase the band’s talents internationally and introduce the band to the loyal European Thrash Metal legions…

Originally founded around 2000 in Albacete, Spain, the band’s name mixes Spanish and Latin language and can be translated into English as ‘stateless’ or ‘renegade’ angels. Previous to signing a worldwide deal with Century Media Records, ANGELUS APATRIDA had already launched two independent, self-released albums (“Evil Unleashed” in 2006 and “Give ‘Em War” in 2007), aspiring to become the new leading Metal act in Iberia, which the band easily and finally achieved with their third album release, “Clockwork”, in 2010: Spain’s biggest music magazine Mondosonoro voted ANGELUS APATRIDA “Best Metal band of the year (2010)”, Kerrang Spain and Rockzone Mag named them “Best band of the year (2010)” and Rolling Stone Spain finally labeled them as "The Spanish band that plays the most outside of the country". Upon release, “Clockwork” entered the official sales charts in Spain on #44 as well as in Greece on #45 and the album’s first single, “Blast Off”, was backed up by a very effective and vivid video-clip, which opened further doors for the band.

ANGELUS APATRIDA’s new album, “The Call” has been once again recorded in Moita, Portugal at Ultrasound Studio with producer Daniel Cardoso (Anneke Van Giersbergen, Anathema, etc.) and the cover artwork was handled by Gustavo Sazes / Abstrata (Arch Enemy, Krisiun, etc.). The same creative team of “Clockwork” has helped shape “The Call” to an extremely impressive and massive next step forwards in the band’s promising career: The 10 ultra-catchy and dynamic new songs on “The Call” clearly show a matured and more determined entity, sticking to their stylistic guns, but showcasing all the elements of their trademark-sound in a bolder and more irresistible manner. ANGELUS APATRIDA have a huge sense for melody, stirring hooklines, awe-inspiring instrumental skills and most of all, an unmatched understanding for effective and viciously aggressive songwriting. All things considered, “The Call” turns out to be an inexhaustible source of listening pleasure for fans of Megadeth, Exodus or Pantera, as well even for those who appreciate a heavier take on the classic approach of genre-defining acts such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest or Metallica.

“The Call” is destined to take ANGELUS APATRIDA to unimagined new heights in their Spanish home territory, but should also effortlessly contribute to establish the band as one of the main leading forces of the new Thrash Metal generation on a worldwide scale as well. A video-clip for the album’s striking opening track “You Are Next” is already in the making and ANGELUS APATRIDA are starting a long and relentless live-campaign to support the new album by heading out on a first European tour with labelmates 3 Inches Of Blood as well as Goatwhore and Havok. Make no mistake and heed “The Call”…
