Century Media was founded by Robert Kampf in Dortmund, Germany in 1988 and has gone on to start the careers of bands such as Divine Heresy, Eyehategod, Nevermore, Moonspell, Diecast, Suicide Silence, Winds of Plague, Iced Earth, God Forbid, Lacuna Coil, In This Moment, and Shadows Fall. The label specializes in many different styles of heavy metal music.[1] A number of artists listed are licensed to Century Media for the American market from labels mostly based in Europe. Century Media is also home to legendary acts such as Napalm Death and Celtic Frost. From 1995 to 2007, Marco Barbieri was the label's president.

The label’s biggest band is Lacuna Coil, while Shadows Fall had the most success during their time with the label. Iconic hardcore punk band Sick Of It All also resides in the Century Media family. Lacuna Coil’s 2002 album, Comalies, became Century Media’s first act to crack the Billboard 200 chart two years after its release. Their fourth album, Karmacode, has sold over 490,000 copies since its release and debuted at number 28 on the Billboard Charts, also hitting number one on the Top Independent Albums Chart. Shadows Fall’s 2004 album, The War Within, set a new milestone for the label with a Top 20 debut on the Billboard 200 and also debuted at number one on the Independent Albums chart, having sold over 300,000 copies since its release. Other notable artists on the label that have also made appearances on the Billboard 200 include Arch Enemy, Stuck Mojo, Nightrage, Behemoth, Strapping Young Lad, Suicide Silence and God Forbid. The Finnish band Sentenced were awarded on August 14, 2008 for their platinum Buried Alive DVD labelled by Century Media. In April 2009, the label announced that they were extending their existing distribution deal with EMI, who had been distributing their releases in the United States since 1997, and in Europe since 2005, to include Australasia.[2]

ENGEL 2nd Album called Threnody : The New IN FLAMES ?

Publié le par Loud TV

Engel_Threnody_600px-300x300.jpg

ENGEL are back with a piece of heaven for any friend of Modern Metal. Their second album "Threnody" raises the standard set by the Swedes' debut "Absolute Design" (2007) sky high. When five experienced musicians from Gothenburg gathered to form ENGEL in the year 2004 they had a clear vision. Niclas Engelin, kown from GARDENIAN as well as PASSENGER alongside Anders Fridén from IN FLAMES and Marcus Sunesson, who spend time in THE CROWN as well as THE HAUNTED teamed up to form a guitarist duo in the best tradition of their hometown renowned for its melodic Death Metal scene. They recruited vocalist Mangan Klavborn, who presents a stunning range from the clear and emotional to the harsh and growling. The rhythm section consisted originally of bassist Michael Håkansson coming from EVERGREY and drummer Mojjo, who have meanwhile been replaced by Steve Drennan and Jimmy Olausson. The vision of this group was put into sound with "Absolute Design". This debut combines hard, rhythmical and atmospheric guitar work with a powerful yet gracefully delicate, heavy and punching work of drum and base. ENGEL hold the balance between skill and brutality, melodies and dynamic, classic metal influences and new-school characteristics. Now "Threnody" takes the next step by combining such diverse influences as LINKING PARK, LAMB OF GOD and SOILWORK with their very own sound. Listen to Modern Metal from Sweden at its best!

If you wanna check an interview with Niclas, head over to Vallee FM – you can download the thing with clicking on ‘Telechargez’. Lots of metal, 2 other interviews and all that, goes on for 2 hours. The interview of Niclas can be found at about 65:30 into the show : http://valleefm.fr/emission.php?emission=40

FLOTSAM & JETSAM to release " The Cold " on Nuclear Blast

Publié le par Loud TV

Flotsam_And_Jetsam_-_The_Cold_artwork.jpg

With their Nuclear Blast debut "The Cold", Flotsam and Jetsam have gone back to their roots of
playing old school Thrash Metal.
The album was produced by Ralph Patlan (Megadeth, Michael Schenker and more) at „Phase
4“ Studios in Phoenix, Arizona and coverart was done by Travis Smith (Nevermore, Iced Earth
and more). Flotsam and Jetsam have come back stronger than ever and with this their first new
album since 2005, they are sure to please their loyal fan base as well as recruiting new fans.
For those who need a refresher course, Flotsam and Jetsam exploded onto the brand new
Thrash scene in 1986 with the legendary "Doomsday For the Deceiver", the record that
propelled original bass player Jason Newstead to international superstardom as a member of
Metallica. Not to be outdone, Flotsam then followed up with what some consider to be the most
important Thrash record of all time, "No Place For Disgrace". Then it was onward and upward
to MCA records for 3 albums that allowed the band to grow musically while never losing the
integrity their fans had come to expect.
Flotsam and Jetsam has become a staple over the years within Thrash Metal circles. The band
was formed in Arizona by vocalist Eric A. K., guitarists Michael Gilbert and Edward Carlson,
bassist Jason Newsted, and drummer Kelly David-Smith. After signing with Metal Blade
Records, they recorded their rough, but ambitious 1986 debut, “Doomsday for the Deceiver”,
which displayed a huge Metallica influence. Ironically, the metal giants would soon recruit
Newsted to replace bassist Cliff Burton, who had died in a tragic tour bus crash. In another
strange twist, Flotsam and Jetsam then signed with Metallica's label Elektra, for whom they
recorded their second album, 1988's “No Place for Disgrace." Flotsam supported the record by

touring North America relentlessly. Switching to MCA, the band issued three more albums
(1990's “When the Storm Comes Down”), 1992's “Cuatro”, and 1995's “Drift”) The band
went back to Metal Blade for three more albums before releasing “Dreams Of Death”(Crash
Music) in 2005.
Midyear 2008 the band were signed to Driven Music Group (who licenced the album for the
european, japanese and australian market to Nuclear Blast), founded by former KORN guitarist
Brian "Head" Welch and industry executive Mark Nawara. Flotsam and Jetsam's new record „
The Cold“ was the last album with Mark Simpson on guitar. He left the band in friendship and
was replaced by the former guitarist Michael Gilbert.
Listen for yourself, make sure it is LOUD, and celebrate Metal The Uniter, Not The Divider!!!
